A year later...

It has been a long time since I posted anything here. I have been dealing with diverticulitis and surgery to remove most of my colon in November. I started working as a nursing assistant doing home health care in January. This has been a huge change for me and my family and I find it hard to balance everything. Anyway on to how Ryelee is doing now.

After months of weekly Dr visits and weight checks, Ryelee was gradually weaned off, then finally had her broviac catheter removed when she was about 14 1/2 lbs. She has to eat often and mom and dad feed her high calorie foods as much as they can. Most people look for low fat foods but not them. The higher fat foods have more calories which is good for her. Last check she was 15 lbs 5 oz so it is working! She also got weaned rather abruptly, shortly after her birthday, when mom's body said hey I can't keep feeding mom, Ryelee and the new baby too!
Mom and Dad did an amazing job of keeping her healthy all winter long, which meant alot of isolation for them. She got her first cold at 11 months. She is sick again now at 13 months and ended up in the ER for a breathing treatment too. We have been suspecting she may have asthma really since spring hit, (not suprising considering how bad her mom had it). She has a nebulizer and albuterol at home now in case she needs it.
Ryelee is doing pretty good physically too. She recieives physical therapy weekly still. She can't crawl but she sure can get around by rolling and army crawling. Her PT is also helping her learn to sit herself up. When she is tired of "playing" with her PT she will do the sign for "all done". She may never crawl because she loves to be on her feet. She stands up to her activity table or the couch or what ever she can. She is also learning to transfer (which scares grammie) and walk along the furniture. Last week at Grammie's everyone was playing with Rockband getting it set up, and trying it out. She stood up to the big box and pushed it around, stopping occasionally to "dance". She loves music and it is so cute to see her dance. We tried to video tape it but as soon as she saw the camera she stopped and had to ham it up for the camera. She definitely knows what a camera is for!

Hey Pam! So glad to see you're back! I've been wondering how you all are. It's awesome to see how well Ryelee (sp) is doing. And she will be a big sister??? That's awesome!! When is she due?? Does she know what she's having?? I don't know if you've read my blog lately but we are expecting too. I'm due August 31st with a little boy. Chase is ecstatic, as we all are, and knew it all along that it was a boy. :O) We miss Caldwell, our old ward, and all our friends/family there. Wish it wasn't over 6 hours away or we might come visit. I'm still working though so not enough time off to merit a visit. Hopefully soon though. Tell everyone we said hi!!
